The timeline depends on your goals, the country you select, and the visa approval process. If you are ready to relocate now, we can begin the process immediately. Some people only need to wait a few months, but others with more complicated cases could take longer.

Yes! Slow Travel has become incredibly popular. “Slow travel” is a way of experiencing a culture without committing to an entire relocation. There are many options for slow travelers, including pathways that enable you to earn money during your stay. Contact us for a free consultation and to learn more about slow travel.

Yes! Geostrata helps families relocate to European countries. There are multiple ways for a family to relocate together. Most European countries consider the following family members to be eligible: your spouse or registered partner, your children (under the age of 18), and/or your elderly parents or disabled adult children. Yes, every visa has an income requirement. Americans are often surprised to find out that many of the income requirements are attainable. For example, Italy's Digital Nomad Visa only requires about €25,000 per year in verifiable income. Another good example is Spain's Digital Nomad Visa, which only requires you to have about €33,000 per year in verifiable income.

Many people relocate successfully without speaking the local language. However, learning it over time makes daily life easier and helps you integrate more fully into your new community. Americans are happy to find that English is commonly spoken across Europe, especially in cities and popular tourist areas.

Every relocation is different, and costs can vary significantly. Someone who wants to move their family, car, and furniture will have a more expensive relocation than a digital nomad who is only bringing a few pieces of luggage. Contact us to receive an estimate as part of your free consultation. Generally speaking, it is ideal to have at least $20,000 available to facilitate your move.

Many European countries offer universal healthcare, meaning residents have access to high-quality care at little to no cost. While systems vary by country, overall healthcare is significantly more affordable and accessible than in the U.S.

Yes—once you have legal residency, your children can typically attend public schools just like local students. Many countries also offer international or bilingual school options depending on your preferences.

Family life in Europe is centered around balance, community, and time together. With shorter workweeks, strong social support, and walkable cities, families enjoy a slower pace of life and more meaningful day-to-day experiences.

Immediately following your relocation we have an Arrival Success Meeting. In this meeting we make sure everything is working out and you are comfortable. You will always have access to our Trusted Network of in-country attorneys, ex-pat tax experts, or our intercultural expert, should you ever need them. We are available for our clients long after their physical move.
